You make a really good point about getting to focus on what you want when you choose to have a custom house. Since building a house is a really big task, I imagine that many traditional home plans are focused around building it as quickly and easily as possible. However, when you make the decision to have everything customized, you need to be sure that the plan doesn’t just follow whatever is easiest for the builder. I think that communicating your focuses to the contractor, and making sure that you have a solid plan are going to ensure that the house is exactly what you want, and not what is easiest.
This is some great information, and I appreciate your point that with a custom home, you get what you want. My husband and I have been talking about moving out of our apartment and into a real house, but we really would like to live in our dream home. A friend of mine has always had a pretty large family, and they were thinking about getting a custom home to help with that.
