As the seasons change, many things change with them: the weather, sports, clothing, and even home decor.
Yesterday was the First Day of Spring. Winter is officially over. It’s time to box up the wool blankets and cinnamon candles and break out the Spring designs.
You may be ready to completely redecorate a room, or you may just want to spruce up your decor. Check out these 5 design ideas to give your home that springy touch.
- MIX IT UP WITH METALLICS
The great thing about using metallics in your home decor is that there is so much versatility. Hang copper pans in your kitchen. Put a plant in a silver pot. Accentuate your fireplace with various sizes of gold candles. The sky is the limit!
- NEUTRALS WITH A POP
When you think of the warm months, what words come to your mind? Light? Airy? Soft? Neutrals are incredible to use when decorating, but this Spring, add a twist to your neutrals by adding a pop of color. Use bright yellow throw pillows on your beige sofa. Stick a mint-colored rug on your neutral floor. These are easy, simple, eye-catching decorations.
- FLOWER POWER
Looking for a quick way to bring some life into your home this Spring? Run to your local market and pick up a bouquet of fresh flowers. When you bring them home and set them in a pretty vase, they’ll be sure to brighten up your home in an instant.
- NOTHING SAYS FRESH LIKE A FRESH COAT OF PAINT
Maybe you want to paint your door a fun color. Perhaps you want to lighten up your home by painting some furniture a neutral color. Sometimes all you need is a can of paint and a brush to make a big change.
- MORE FLORALS
Patterns are in; floral patterns are very in. This is another design that can be used in many ways. Put a floral throw over a neutral chair in your living room. A floral painting can spruce up any living area. Use floral wallpaper for the background of a bookshelf.
No matter what you’re in need of, there are plenty of ways to transform your home this Spring season.
What is your favorite way to decorate for Spring?
I think plants are the best thing to decorate with in spring, especially if you have some cool planters to show them off. After a long winter with few green things putting plants and flowers on display does a lot for making a home look more inviting. OK, so I think you should do this year round, but you can change your planters with the seasons.
One thing that’s staple with me when home decorating is the use of colors. I know not everyone’s in for colorful designs so I make sure to mix and match and only go for colors and patterns that blend well and not too over the top. It’s also good to use color for design tricks. 🙂
